ComiCentric Issue 57: The Fur-ther Adventures of Space Racoon and his Amazing Friends

So last week, like millions of movie goers out there we went to go see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. And while this served as an ending to a 10-year run of movies spanning 3 movies, 2 tie ins, and one x-mas special. Guardians for some served as the iron man for those who came in late to the game. What the first Guardians movie did for the rest of the franchise was liberating. They showed that superhero movies are more than just up up and away. You can have fun watching a movie that has heart, humor, and lots of violence.

I still think that the ending of this ride needed more of an exclamation point. They teased us that something bad was going to happen. Something big. The soundtrack for vol.3 was a bit foreboding and I kind of wanted to say misleading. After finding out no one dies…. Ok ok a whole planet and its civilization was wiped out, and I think Nathan Fillion might have died too…  I guess I should reiterate. Not one of the main core cast dies.

The crew of the bowie were all broken. They all came with their own personal trauma baggage whether it was from previous family events, traumatic experiments performed, or just not finding where you belong. They were able to form together and form a support group that while a bit rough, would non the less will travel light years and overcome Gods to keep their family alive.

no one should bare trauma like this

As it is, that movie was a roller coaster of emotions though always plateauing, coming short of sheading a tear levels. And jab through the loop de loop heart is what we needed to make this movie bleed tears of emotions. Whatever executive in charge of merch at deeznuts probably said, ‘you can’t sell death to kids.’ Just saying if someone died, it would have just made this the best bittersweet culmination of a ride that we all like to enjoy. Oh well…

despite all the trauma he grew up to be a hero

Second half of this podcast though. 2007 Korean made movie D-Wars. Oh, you don’t know about D-Wars. Well let’s just say since 2016 a sequel that probably will never see the light was still in production. And I am painfully… I mean patiently waiting for it.

XOXO
